So
faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead…James 2:17
CHRISTMAS JAIL VISIT
The Ministry of Compassion has confirmed the
visit to the Hanover Regional Jail for
Sunday, December 23rd between
2:00 and 4:00 P.M. When I talked with Joe
Driver he informed me they now have 450
inmates. We like to have a bag for each
inmate with homemade cookies, writing
material, devotional book, and a religious
tract. This means we need your help. If we
are to put 3 or 4 cookies in each bag this
means LOTS of cookies are needed. If you are
willing to make cookies bring them to the
church and put them in the freezer and mark
them for jail ministry. We also need
devotional books, like These Days, Upper
Room, etc, and blank note cards or
stationery and envelopes. We have a basket
on the shelf in the hallway outside the
sanctuary where you may put these items.
This is a ministry MPC has been involved in
for over twenty years. We go out to the
jail and visit each cell block. We read the
Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke,
sing some carols, and pray with them. This
means a lot for the inmates at a time when
they cannot be with their own families. If
you would like to participate in this
ministry we would welcome your help; you may
contact one of members of Compassion: Anna
Barrowclough, Barbara Camper, Betty Compton,
Myra Compton, Becky Cooley, Maxine Lane,
Gary Tipton, and Marylou Wren are members of
Compassion and we thank you for your help.
Don’t forget Meat Loaf Day is December
12th! Bring your cooked meat
loaf to the church before that date and
place it in the freezer.
